Hello,
It’s P The Mc

P The MC, born Cleophace Yessaya, is a Hip Hop artist hailing from Kiwalani, Dar Es Salaam. Growing up in the impoverished side of the city, his inspiration and drive comes from his day-to-day struggle dealing with real life situations in his community as well as his personal endeavors. Losing his father at a young age, forced him to grow up fast and assume the role of a father figure to his younger siblings.Musically speaking, his love f o r a r t c a m e f r o m t h e admiration of artists such as Profesa Jay, Sugu, GWM and Hard Blasters, which are some of the local and yet legendary music acts to come from Tanzania during the 90s. It wasn't until the 2000s when he started to see himself as a rapper and specifically in 2004 when he heard the late Complex on AY's "Raha Tu Remix" where he got so inspired to start writing his own lyrics. In 2012 while under the rap stable of Tamaduni Muzik, P or P Mawenge as he is sometimes known as, dropped his debut album "Mwingi Wa Habari" which was both a critically acclaimed one as well as a commercial success as it propelled him to becoming one of the most downloaded artists in East Africa across all genres through digital platforms such as Mdundo. To date he has earned two plagues on the digital sales awards. The album was mostly produced by Palla, the producer, whom has a great chemistry with P when the work together. To illustrate that he is not just a studio artist, P was able to show & prove that he is also a stellar performer, as he was booked to appear on the 2014 Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) as a musical act. He held his own, and most of it can be attributed to the regular showcases at the Tamaduni Muzik Cyphers, which are held bi-weekly in the city, and him being one of the pioneers. In 2015, P The MC teamed up with another barbed wire emcee, Zaiid, and dropped a duet mixtape "Mwenge Kiwalani" which just like his previous release, did well digitally and also solidified him as a force to be reckoned with in the rap world. In 2016 he teamed up with the legendary Dully Sykes (one of the pioneers of Bongofleva) and started working with him under his Studio 4.12 stable, and the results have been nothing but remarkable as P The MC started to hit the mainstream with the efforts. "Run DSM" which featured Dully Sykes & Young Killer, stayed on numerous chats for weeks, and it's video being one of the best rap videos to be released that year. The follow up track was "Na Mimi" which featured the R&B sensation, Jux, and just like the previous one, this feel good love fairytale became an instant hit, hitting the airwaves nationwide. More spotlight came to him in the year 2016, when he became part of the best rap Collabo of the year in "Cjamoker" a Cjamoker produced banger featuring himself and the likes of Zaiid, Wakazi, One The Incredible and the crooner Ibrah Nation. It is on the same encounter during the preparations of this track, when SSK was born, a quartet rap group which features P The MC, Wakazi, Zaiid & Cjamoker!! Currently in the studio working on his sophomore album, and also doing the finishing touches of his group (SSK) album, it is safe to say that this won't be the last time you will hear the letter P!!
